ANNOUNCEMENT – EDITOR RECRUITMENT

In order to broaden the scope and the quality of published scientific articles, the Brazilian Journal of Criminal Procedure (Scielo, Scopus, SJR Q2, WoS, Redalyc) editorial team publishes a public call for the selection of assistant editor.

  • Functions (job description)
    1. participate in the administration of RBDPP;
    2. assist in managing the editorial process of submitted articles (preliminary control, appointment and contact with reviewers, contact with authors for the corrections rounds, article analysis and final decision recommendation, editorial review, etc.);
    3. possibility of publishing editorials on topics related to scientific publishing, research and publication;
    4. contribute to the Journal internationalization, with contacts abroad and document translations.

Priority will be given to profiles of candidates who can contribute with:

  1. social medias management and creation of images for dissemination of the Journal content (ability with image editing or websites like Canva);
  2. aptitude to collaborate in a podcast and audio/video editing;
  3. knowledge of journalism to create releases and calls for publications.

 

  • Requirements and availability
    1. doctoral degree, or PhD candidate;
      1. except the candidate for the journalism profile;
      2. in the adoption of affirmative policies, self-declared black or indigenous candidates will be accepted with master's degree candidate.
  1. adherence and knowledge in criminal procedure law;
    1. except the candidate for the journalism profile, although basic knowledge of law in general is recommended;
  1. availability of 2 hours per week (home based) and monthly Skype meeting.

 

  • Selection Criteria:
    1. curriculum vitae;
    2. interview by video conference: interest and availability, knowledge in criminal procedure (domestic and foreign), knowledge in scientific editing, peer review and RBDPP’s project, idioms, aptitude to team work, proactivity, and to adherence to the priority profiles of this call.
      1. the interview will occur by video conference and will be scheduled with the candidate by email, probably in January, 2023.
    3. motivation letter: interest and availability, previous experience in research, publication and scientific editing, especially in criminal procedure.

 

Applications must be sent to vinicius.vasconcellos@ueg.br by December 20th 2022, containing:

  • curriculum vitae;
  • PDFs of up to five most important scientific productions of the candidate;
  • personal information of the candidate (address, nationality, birth date) and contacts (email and phone number);
  • motivation letter (up to 2 pages).

 

  • the documents and the interview may be in Portuguese, English or Spanish, by choice of the applicant.
  • all data and documents will be handled in accordance to the RBDPP Politics of Date Privacy.

 

The selected editor will integrate the team for an initial six-month period, extendable indefinitely, by decision of the editorial team (editor-in-chief and associated-editors).

Working as an editor at RBDPP is an unpaid activity, does not entail an employment relationship and does not constitute a right to stability in the function or RBDPP editorial body, being characterized as temporary voluntary work, under the terms of this announcement. Periodic declaration will be issued to certify the performance of the editor for curriculum purposes (in addition to the possibility of certification by Publons).

The selection will be made by the editorial team of RBDPP (editors-in-chief and associated-editors), with attention to criteria of exogeny (internationalization and regionalization) and prioritization by affirmative policies and gender parity, which will contact the candidates. The final result will be published on the Journal's page.
